A CONCERT FOR A CLIMATE IN CRISIS
CITIZENSHIP AHEAD OF CLIMATE CHANGE
As Al Gore announced with satisfaction, the next 7-th of July
a series of 7 concerts will be held in 7 cities around the
world to draw the attention of the public opinion to the
global warming phenomenon and its terrible consequences. The
slogan could not be clearer than that: “A concert for a
climate in crisis”.
This idea is a reflection of a much needed global answer to
the climate crisis: the first concert will be held in Sydney,
(Australia) and will be followed by others in Tokyo, (Japan),
Shanghai (China), Johannesburg (South Africa), London (United
Kingdom), Hamburg (Germany), New Jersey (US) and Rio de
Janeiro (Brazil). It will last 24 hours and the audience is
forecasted to reach 2000 million viewers, which is a total
record.
Within the Youth Center for Europe, we are supporting this
initiative totally given the absolute necessity to act against
the climate change once and for all. The time for analysis has
passed as well as the time for infatuation. This is the time
to act and the action starts in both the massive and the
personal conscience of citizenship. I say massive given that
it should reach everybody; I say personal because we have to
be able to convince and to motivate those who, for different
reasons are uninformed or those who are on purpose misinformed
about this problem.
